ABOUT ME

STUDIES

I began my career in music while studying with Sandy Duffy Norman of Sunridge Flute Studios in Salem, Oregon. In 2015, I graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Music degree in Flute Performance, and in 2017 I received Master of Music degree from The Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. My teachers have included celebrated soloists such as Linda Toote and Ian Clarke, as well as members of the London Symphony Orchestra (Gareth Davies) and ROH Symphony Orchestra (Christopher Green).

I have always been a keen performer, regularly competing in State and National competitions in the USA, winning the Oregon State High School competition in 2011. I have also performed with the BU Wind Ensemble, Guildhall Opera Orchestra, Guildhall Symphony Orchestra, and multiple ensembles & baroque chamber groups in Boston and London.

TEACHING

During my studies I discovered my passion for teaching through volunteering with Barbican’s Future Band, LSO Next Generation, and the Centre for Young Musicians.

After graduating, I gained a range of teaching experiences working with KeyNotes Music, Music Booth Academy, Wandsworth Music, and Surrey Sound of Music, and I currently teach Flute and Piano privately at St. James Catholic Primary School.

I now run a successful private music studio teaching flute and piano to over 50 students, of all ages, based in Leatherhead. I have taken students through formal examinations (with both ABRSM and Trinity), achieving success at all grades/levels.

I’m a passionate believer in the value of performing, and support students with studio recitals, as well as preparation for competitions and festivals (eg. Sutton Music festival & Richmond Music Festival). In Autumn 2022, one student placed third and another won their class at the Sutton Music Festival.
